What is the Age of Consent?

The age of consent in many US states is 16 years old without a requirement that there be a specific age difference. The reason why laws like these exist, has a lot to do with majority consent, human development, and documentation of societal norms through codified law or legislation. Breeding decisions and norms, as with psychology or learning, is often covered by medical privacy rights; this was recently simplified in the USA with the expression HIPAA rights. Accountability, has a lot to to do with documentation of privacy breaches if that makes sense. Things that are specific to a certain state or region will be discussed later; however norms and similarities in laws throughout the US or in other parts of the world will be documented here. Meaning that very few details will be discussed unless it varies from the norm for that legislative average. Its worth noting that dating a 16 year old at any age, may have additional stipulations from their family, such as not dating them specifically; or, it may be ok for them to date anyone that's willing to date them as long as they meet other standards that the family agree or disagree with. For example cleanliness, profession, life long career goals, or just life goals and ambitions in general. Often, families don't need to know about every consideration for a date, even if they're curious they often don't want to intrude, but its usually important to talk about definite dates and why those dates where chosen instead of other dates that the family might have had in mind for an extended family. For those without a family feedback system, its usually ok to talk about dating decisions with friends, so that feelings and emotions aren't bottled up and so that the dater can hear themselves think. Its also perfectly fine to just ask around and date, and talk about the reasons for selecting that particular date later, if it works out. That's a perfectly fine outlook in life as long as things are consensual and in agreement with societal norms and expectations for dating. Many of these stipulations exist in almost any family, even if the person dating is 24-32 years old. Because dating decisions can affect an existing family, and new living arrangements may need to be made with certain dating decisions. This is going to be a long post, but will be as concise as possible. Family Acceptance Dating at any age often requires family acceptance. This is because neurological pathways might be affected throughout the family with certain dating decisions. This is not a concept or data point that was well understood until recently and has more to do with sensory systems, emotions, and hormone communications like happiness, sadness, nervousness, anger, or anxiety than with psychic thought transmission. At the very least, its important to think about societal norms, mental health, time schedules, things in common, and personal interactions; if the relationship will be kept private from family until its decided that it is definitely more long term or permanent. And reputation, is important when dating for both males and females regardless of orientation or personality. Sexual Health A lot of frustrations with going through changes or growth spurts, at any age can often be dealt with more conservative means than in the past. Often, working out together, then sitting on the couch and watching movies, before departing can help deal with a lot of issues that weren't well known until recently. The reason these things became well known was due to overpopulation and unplanned pregnancies. It helps to understand what is going on with human growth, and to view what life would look like for adults that may live to be 85 to 115 years old. Its also important to know that the healthy age to have 1-2 kids is between 26 and 32. This new updated breeding age reduces the need for extensive doctor and lab tests, but does not eliminate it completely. Many people will not be having kids, and this is a consistent part of human development; and development in other organisms. Some lifeforms, including humans, have members of their species that are there to help out, and enjoy life on Earth, but will not be propagating. This leaves hormones and socialization desires to deal with. They can often be dealt with through various ways; including reducing or eliminating chemicals in foods, whether they are additives or naturally occuring that lead to arousal. Often these chemicals can be taken as a capsule periodically if they are essential to human health. With the hormones taken care of through various means, this leaves relationship building as the primary reason for dating, and this then becomes decoupled from breeding, which may occur up to 2 times in most developed nations, for those progressing into future based human development standards. Finally, human development issues related to hormone production can be dealt with in a different post as those are complex topics that will vary from person to person and family to family. The context of the current conversation is new behavioral norms and worthwhile standards to meet, that still fit in with a specific persons sexual health. In Latin America, age of consent is common law, around 15 years old and the correlating concept is the quinceanera or 15th birthday, and the US based sweet 16. Most laws have now been codified in Latin America as between 16 and 18 without much detail. In Germany, the age of consent was lowest throughout Europe at 14, but as a cultural or societal norm, this was usually with a 18/19 year old for a small group of girls with boys waiting until 15/17 with women that were between 24/26. This is rare, and under examination and they appear to grow out of it right before puberty. Most of the boys do not develop an accelerated muscle definition until they reach the normal age of puberty even if very few do have adult based muscle definition. Initially, the youngest age of consent found throughout the Americas and Western Europe was 12 in a rural village; however, in nearby cities, even consensual dating with a 15 year old where there was no family approval could result in extreme area violence. The age of consent in those areas has been updated to 18 since then with the consent and approval of the people. California's law require several things in order to establish law validity:
  • Circulation of Legislative Proposals in compliance with Plain Language Act 2010
  • Compliance and non-conflict of law with established or supersceding laws and legislation
  • A vote by the people
  • enactment by the legislators
  • a signature or signatures from the executive office
The laws of California will remain to allow a 14 year old to date up to a 24 year old until the year 2032. At which point the law can be changed through 2040, 2045 or 2048 through popular vote and consent of the people. The stipulation on oral sex will likely be invalidated in the future and the stipulation on the secondary genital proximity orifice will require examination by an LGBT medical examiner. Eventually, all sexual interactions will be treated similarly with sexual crimes being solely defined by non-consent, aggression, damage, or bodily harm to the person under examination. Spouses under the time scheduled date of adulthood measured from birth can be absolved of statutory rape charges with each other for legally valid marriages. This is most often 15/16 year olds who received a misinterpretation of law and began preparation for adulthood a bit early. Often those past the age of 16 are able to wait until 17/19 to start dating and consider the legal context of marriages, agreements, and family building. Technically, the age of consent is 16 but the law is flexible with minors at 15 or 15 and 1/2 who have received misinterpretations of law and have otherwise adequately prepared for a loving relationship but made an error or mistake in time scheduling. The age of 14 or too close to immediately turning 15 is often viewed as potentially an intentional circumvention of law under the pretext of misinterpration of law. This can also have reputation effects on their families which they are made aware of during court proceedings. This close in age approximation was initially up to a 4 year age difference throughout the United States for 16 to 20 year olds in the recent past, and no age difference restrictions after age 20. However, the acceptable age difference for dating throughout the world is curently 10 years difference on average and no more than 20 years difference for couples participating or involved in age gap dating. More than 20 years age difference requires documentation of facts and data. The preferred age gap is going towards less than 4 years on average or about 10 years difference for select small groups of couples.
