The internet was built as a scientific system for data exchange and communications. Many people have described it as a television set before the recession and they have questions about television and its electrical output compared to streaming content and social media.
They have some valid concerns which have not been able to be assessed due to tech worker contexts. Many of these are covered by medical privacy rights, and others are under criminal investigation that will be ongoing over many years. More than a decade of investigations are being planned to deal with tech sociopaths that internet users describe as bullies, mean ***** with nothing better to do, and harassment squads that don't know to mind their own business and don't understand that other people are not obligated to be friends with them.
Technology interactions take time, even with asyncrhonous communications, the other person has to take time to put together the message they want sent or broadcasted to another person or internet user.
Many people only use the internet behind a login, meaning that they have a list of login pages they visit and they interact with people there. Its not necessarily a top 10 social media site or anything mainstream or superpopular. A lot of people don't pay attention to things like that. If something is popular its because its interesting, things aren't normally interesting just because they are popular.
These login websites are considered mysterious websites with unknown content that are susceptible to engaging in illegal activities and dangerous content because they are not out in the open sharing, inviting, reposting, verifying, liking, researching, commenting, and posting. Often times, these attitudes towards other peoples communications violate freedom of expression, privacy rights, and when being overly curious can border on impersonating law enforcement and doing unwarranted search.
A lot of people have gone through technology detox and don't spend much time on the internet. Less than 5 hours a week and some are down to 5 hours a month. Bills only, texts and emails for meeting confirmation only.
This is viewed as healthier for many people and leads to more manageable time schedules. Its part of work life balance programs in many places.
Internet participation will be limited over the next few years and there will be discussions over the next 15 years on harassment, hyperactivity, inferiority complex, self-esteem, confidence, obessions, fixations, and contexts of making friends or choosing not to.
Many people are already downloading and deleting their content from the internet and choosing a handful of websites, less than 5 to interact on. While this is a goal of restructuring the internet for modernized use, some people will not know how to get started or they will have anxiety about the procedures.
While all this is going on, various people will be posting content and deleting or consolidating content and making it available for export for up to one year. After that, very few people will be using social media or expecting large tech corporations to keep their data for any significant period of time once their account has been deleted.
Hoping for more offline interactions or just staying home and doing pre-internet non electronic activities at home. This will be a brief but ongoing project in technology modernization.
